Big News!

The film Robert wrote and directed is having a launch night at The Mockingbird Cinema on the 25th of November! Tickets are £8 and help fund his next film. Here’s there info…

A story about Gertrude, a lady with a remarkable gift to see the future. Filmed at The Rose Villa Tavern in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Starring Janice Connolly, Laurence Saunders, Robert George Lane and a host of talented performers from the Midlands including the Improv Wolves.

The film has been nominated for Best Short at Midlands Movies Awards and selected for Flatpack Festival, Oxford Shorts Festival, Worcester Film Festival, Reel Brum and Gobby Flicks.

The launch night will feature a screening of Fortune Tell Her, a Q&A with the filmmakers and a performance by Improv Wolves, described as “a fabulous group... doing excellent stuff” by BBC Radio

Whether you're a seasoned performer or just looking to try something new, this event is perfect for all levels. Get ready to laugh, think on your feet, and unleash your creativity in a supportive, low pressure and friendly environment.

Led by Robert George Lane

Robert is an actor, musician, writer and improviser. He is a founding member of comedy improvisation groups Improv Wolves and Noteworthy: The Made-up Musical, has recently written and directed his first short film and is a Birmingham Rep Theatre Foundry Artist.

Robert is also the host of The Robert Lane Creative Careers Podcast where he chats to creatives including musicians, songwriters, actors, writers, comedians and journalists about their careers and how they create their work.

Robert facilitates workshops on topics including songwriting and comedy improvisation, provides regular music and drama sessions for Midland Mencap and as part of his Rep Theatre Foundry programme delivered a 12 week co-creation project with a community group, culminating with a performance at Birmingham Rep.
